Nice To Eat You

The Midnight Run

Nice To Eat You

By Jonathan Sellars

I am the monster under your bed,

I live at the end right under your head,

Each night as you lie in the dark on your own,

Always remember that you’re not alone.

I’m there just beneath you,

Sharpening my claws,

Picking past victims from out of my jaws.

When will I eat you?

When the time’s right,

Which may,

Or may not,

Be sometime tonight.

The End (for you is soon)

When The Witches Came

By Jonathan Sellars

There was a boy that I once knew

With mischief in his eyes,

He spent near every waking hour

Weaving webs of lies,

There was a woman I once knew

With wisdom in her eyes,

She warned us all that witches’ prey

On children who told lies,

I never knew if that was true

Until All Hallows’ Day

When the witches came at dead of night

And stole that boy away.

The Midnight Run

By Jonathan Sellars

I need a wee,

But it’s too dark to see,

And I know they’re all out there,

And they’re all watching me.

I turn on the night light,

I check all around,

But they hide out of sight,

And they don’t make a sound.

I creep from my bed,

Out into the hall,

And search for the light switch

High up on the wall.

As fast as I can,

For the chase has begun,

Along to the toilet

I run and I run.

I slam the door shut,

On goes the light,

I see how my hands

Are both shaking with fright.

I do what I need to

As impending doom

Tells me I’ll never

Get back to my room.

I sprint as they chase me,

Heavy with dread,

Yet somehow I make it

And leap into bed.

Under the covers

I’m safe as can be,

But I know they’re still out there,

And they’re still watching me.
